Description of the Tender

Caloola village locates in the southern part of Dilla village and it is under administration of Baki district. The community of Caloola village are agro-pastoralist and consist of around 150 households (source: UCT beneficiary list, 2020) and they receive their drinking water from a cistern/Berkad with its age of 30 years and it needs to be rehabilitated to work another 30 years and more. In response to this catastrophe, WHH is going to make rehabilitation of the Barkad (cistern) for Calool community to have safe and potable water in three months of the year (twice) according to the capacity of the barked. The Barked is intended to give water to the community particularly dry seasons. The capacity of the Barked exclusively will be 432 cubic meters which is corresponding to 432,000 litres. According to minimum standard of average volume of water used for drinking and domestic hygiene is 15 litres per person/day (source: Sphere handbook, 2018, page: 107). Therefore, the Berkad will provide water to the community about 3 months and it is merely envisioned for the people consumption.

Objective of the Bid: to invite potential and competent contractors for the Berkad Rehabilitation in Caloola Community.

The new interventions to be done will compose of the following activities:

• Demolishing of the ex-slab of the main barked and silt trap
• Demolishing and removing the plastering from the main Barked
• Leveling the bottom of the Berkad
• Laying 15 cm thick hard core
• Laying 5 cm thick of lean concrete
• Laying 20 cm thick of RCC
• Construction of 40 cm thick stone walls
• Construction of two RCC rectangular columns
• Thick plastering all the inner walls of the Berkad and silt trapping basin and supporting columns.
• Providing 0.5 m height and 0.7m wide structure overflow
• Construction of channel walls trapping water from the catchment area
• Construction of the channel walls leading water to the Berkad.
• Covering the Barked with red wood trusses and iron gauge 28
• Construction of drainage pavement concrete
• Access point (1m * 0.8m * 0.3m) where community can take water from the Berkad with a locking door (1m * 0.7m).

Eligibility

Competent Contractors who have similar construction work experience, necessary technical and financial capabilities in association with the bid requirements. Furthermore, the contractors must have their renewed trade license certification and tax identification documents.
